Automated Cell Microplate Dispenser Delivers Uniform Seeding and Sustained Cell Proliferation
2026/10/14 HannoxTAIPEI, TAIWAN — In cell biology and cell line development, high-throughput preparation often compromises live-cell viability. A newly developed automated cell microplate dispenser resolves this challenge, completing 96-well plate aliquoting in under 3 minutes while maintaining approximately 100% post-dispense cell viability. The platform integrates programmable anti-sedimentation agitation with a short-path fluidic system to eliminate volumetric variance and sample waste.

Preserving Cell Integrity with Low Shear Stress
Unlike conventional peristaltic dispensers that subject membranes to mechanical compression, this system utilizes low-shear pathways to safeguard cell integrity. Internal validation confirmed gentle handling on shear-sensitive lines. When dispensing 100 µL droplets of SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells into 96-well plates, the instrument achieved uniform cell distribution immediately upon delivery, followed by even adherence after overnight incubation. Long-term proliferation assays with PLC5 hepatocellular carcinoma cells (2,000 cells/well) showed continuous, statistically significant growth over five days, exceeding 500% expansion by day five without disrupting physiological competence.

Preventing Sedimentation with High Precision
To eliminate cell density gradients common in manual pipetting and static bulk dispensers, integrated programmable agitation continuously resuspends cells during operation. The dispenser supports droplet volumes of 25–100 µL with volumetric precision of CV ≤ 5% across 6- to 96-well microplates, eliminating operator fatigue and well-to-well drift.

Low Dead Volume and Aseptic BSC Integration
Designed for precious cell lines and high-value reagents, the optimized fluid path limits dead volume to 500 µL. The compact unit fits seamlessly inside standard Class II Biosafety Cabinets (BSCs) without disturbing laminar airflow, ensuring strict aseptic control throughout high-throughput workflows.
Standardizing Workflows for Discovery
By combining micro-volume precision, minimal dead volume, and low-shear cell protection, this automated dispenser bridges the gap between labor-intensive manual pipetting and high-throughput automation. As cell-based therapeutics and functional screenings demand higher throughput and consistency, this standardized workflow provides a cost-effective reproducible tool.
